Achieve analyzes state graduation requirements — exit standards, exit exams, end-of-course exams and course-taking requirements — to ensure that graduates will have the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in college or the workplace. To do this work, Achieve uses:

• English and mathematics benchmarks, developed by the American Diploma Project after more than two years of research with postsecondary faculty and employers.
• a system of coding and categorizing individual test items that allows us to make comparisons among different tests.
• a database that includes course-taking requirements from all 50 states.
