Senior Fellow, Assessment & Accountability 

Cory Curl is responsible for providing support and guidance to states as they transition to accountability systems designed to drive college and career readiness for all students. In addition, she assists states in the PARCC consortium on transition issues that have implications for accountability systems at all levels.

Prior to joining Achieve, Cory was a consultant to the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Innovation and Improvement through the White House Strong Cities Strong Communities initiative, where she focused on supporting the City of Memphis with cradle to career education strategy. She has also served as Director of the Education Delivery Unit at the Tennessee Department of Education, as a senior policy advisor for EducationCounsel, LLC, as senior research analyst for the Governor’s Office of State Planning and Policy in Tennessee, and as policy director for the Tennessee Department of Education.

A Kentucky native, Cory received a bachelor’s degree in geology from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina and a master's degree in public administration from the Martin School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Kentucky. In 1994, she received a Kentucky Arts, Education, and Humanities Award for her advocacy in support of the Kentucky Education Reform Act of 1990.
