Tennessee Steps Up High School Standards

Students aren't meeting demands of college, work

Nashville - Gov. Phil Bredesen and state education officials are restructuring education so students learn more rigorous material and take tests that more accurately measure gains. Starting this school year, all Tennessee high school students will have to take a college entrance exam. In January, Tennessee joined the American Diploma Project, a group of 30 states working toward aligning high school curriculum and tests with the demands of college and work. Read the article.
