This brochure and application outlines what is expected of businesses and volunteers and how they can be actively involved in helping students.

    E3: Employers for Education Excellence is a statewide non-profit organization, founded by the Oregon Business Council, which brings together employers and schools to improve student achievement in Oregon public schools. In 2004, E3 presented regional Employer Education Forums designed to engage Oregon employers in boosting student achievement. The forums presented business and education leaders with the compelling case for taking part in improving Oregon’s schools through employer engagement.

    E3: Employers for Education Excellence is a statewide non-profit organization, founded by the Oregon Business Council, which brings together employers and schools to improve student achievement in Oregon public schools. Literacy Partners connects employers to middle schools and students in their community. The middle grades are a pivotal time in the development of literacy skills. It is in these years that schools shift their focus from learning to read to using reading to learn. The Literacy Partners Toolkit guides you through the process of planning, launching and sustaining a successful literacy-mentoring program.

    E3: Employers for Education Excellence

    The Small Schools Initiative is a project of E3: Employers for Education Excellence, with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Meyer Memorial Trust. The School Change Rubric is designed to help educators and others interested in high school redesign better understand the critical elements of high-achieving and equitable small high schools. The version of the Rubric shown here reflects the thinking of the Initiative Design Team, research on best practices in school redesign from around the nation, and suggestions from the Initiative’s Advisory Cabinet and expert faculty.

This toolkit seeks to collect in one place the Initiative’s most important documents for converting large comprehensive high schools into small, innovative schools, as well as designing new ones.
