Casey Maliszewski

Program Associate, State Leadership & Policy Development 

Casey Maliszewski joined Achieve in July 2011 as Program Associate for State Leadership & Policy Development. As a member of the State Leadership & Policy Development team, she provides research and analysis support of the PARCC Transition and Implementation Institute and the Technical Issue and Policy working groups (TIPS).

Prior to joining Achieve, Casey worked as a Research Assistant for the New Jersey Council of County Colleges, where she provided research and support for strategic initiatives in the areas of improving student success in developmental education, aligning expectations between K-12 and higher education, and improving student data systems. In 2010, she was also one of the six former community college students invited to participate in the first ever White House Community College Summit, at which she discussed community colleges as pathways into baccalaureate programs. She also taught English writing and sociology at an alternative school in Massachusetts and interned at the Coalition for Community Schools and the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education.

A New Jersey native, Casey holds an associate degree in English from Raritan Valley Community College and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Mount Holyoke College, where she wrote a thesis on the policies and practices of alternative education in New Jersey. She also holds master’s degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in sociology and education with a policy concentration.
