

Associate Director, PARCC Assessment Development
Lani Dunthorn joined Achieve in February 2012 as the Associate Director, PARCC Assessment Development. Prior to joining Achieve, Lani taught high school social studies, worked in the assessment office of a large school district, led the development and administration of assessments at the state level, and led the design and development of assessments at national publishing companies.
While at CTB/McGraw-Hill and Riverside Publish Company, Lani led the design and development of ELA, mathematics, science, social studies, and bilingual formative and summative assessment programs. For her work at CTB/McGraw-Hill, she was named employee of the month.
Prior to her work at national publishing companies, Lani spent ten years with the Florida Department of Education’s (FDOE) assessment office. She was responsible for the design, development, and administration of statewide assessments in ELA, math, and social studies. While with the FDOE, Lani was instrumental in the design and implementation of the state’s first on-demand writing assessment in grades 4, 8, and 10. For her work in this area, Lani was recognized by the department’s award for sustained outstanding achievement.
During Lani’s tenure with assessment office of Miami-Dade County Schools, she led the development of local high school and middle school assessments. She was instrumental in the design, development, and administration of the third grade reading portfolio, which was used to justify the promotion of grade three students who performed at the lowest levels of the statewide reading assessment.
Lani holds a bachelor's in social studies secondary education from the University of Miami and a master's in Administration, Supervision, and Instruction from Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
