
With a new higher standards, Tennessee is ushering in a new era of preparing students for future jobs. This editorial notes that, "In 1975, only 28 percent of jobs in the U.S. required more than a high school education. In 2010, that figure is 80 percent. If Tennessee is ever to bring its standard of living into line with the top states, it needs to graduate a much higher percentage of high school students and send them on to two– and four-year colleges, universities and technical centers."
