International Science Benchmarking Report

Tuesday, September 14, 2010Printer-friendly version

Achieve conducted a comparative analysis of 10 countries’ science standards, selecting countries based on their strong performance on international assessments and/or their economic, political, or cultural importance to the United States. Achieve’s report is based on patterns of special interest that emerged from analyzing the coding of more than 25,000 standards statements across the 10 selected countries. The study includes U.S. examples such as the National Assessment for Educational Progress, Massachusetts’ state science standards and the College Board’s Standards for College Success in Biology. This analysis of select countries allows readers to view science education through an international lens. This work was possible thanks to generous support from the Noyce Foundation.
