Achieve Webinar: How We Learn Now: Science Education for the Next Generation

Printer-friendly version

The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) realize the vision of The National Research Council's Framework for K-12 Science Education by requiring students to learn scientific content by engaging in the practices of science and applying crosscutting concepts (e.g., patterns, cause and effect). This integration of the three dimensions reflects the Framework's research on how students best learn science, and it is integral to the implementation of the NGSS. Achieve's Senior Vice President, Stephen Pruitt, shared what three-dimensional learning is and how it helps students explain phenomena. Stephen then held a conversation with Trish Shelton, Science Teacher and Teacher Leader, Boone County High School, Kentucky, who shared her experience as an educator putting three-dimensional learning into practice in her classroom. Presented May 12, 2015.
