Associate Director, Policy & Practice
Teresa Eliopoulos joined the Achieve staff in May of 2011 and currently serves as Associate Director, Policy & Practice. Teresa helps states and districts implement college-and-career-ready standards in English Language Arts and Literacy, mathematics, and science by managing Achieve’s national instructional materials initiatives, helping states and districts with the adoption and implementation of state college-and-career ready standards, and strengthening relationships with national partners, states and districts around this work.
Previously, Teresa supported states on adoption and implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) through her management of the NGSS Network. Additionally, Teresa managed the state-led process to develop the NGSS by coordinating the lead state partners and the writing team through multiple rounds of public and state feedback. Teresa has supported many other projects at Achieve, including working with states to facilitate the development of instructional materials that integrated content from both the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics and Career Technical Education (CTE).
A native of upstate New York, Teresa earned a bachelor’s degree in Law and Policy from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Teresa holds a Master of Public Policy from American University, where she focused on urban education and issues surrounding absenteeism and truancy rates in public schools.
