In the absence of the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), states are gathering momentum as they revamp state accountability systems to value and promote college and career readiness for all students. Rather than focus simply on high school graduation rates and proficiency rates from one high school assessment, states are exploring approaches that incorporate a richer array of indicators into their report cards and accountability metrics. Several national leaders will join us to discuss innovative approaches emerging in the states and the potential implications for federal accountability requirements under ESEA.
